Tree Management - Network Rail

May 25, 2022

To prevent at-risk crack willow trees from falling into the river channel and causing blockages upstream of Leeds station, trees growing on the bank were dismantled and winched up the steep bank to be processed by a whole-tree chipper.

We also removed large accumulations of organic and inorganic debris from the river channel, together reducing the amount of large debris which could travel downstream and cause blockages at pinch points under Leeds Station.
