Riverside Wellbeing Walks
Riverlution have received support from Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park - South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation’s Legacy Fund, to continue our series of riverside wellbeing walks.
The project will provide opportunities for people to engage in physical activity, connect with nature and promote mental health and wellbeing, enabling us to connect the communities in and around the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park with their local waterways.
We're so pleased to see our Legacy Fund supporting Riverlution to deliver a series of riverside wellbeing walks, providing opportunities for people to engage in physical activity, connect with nature and promote mental wellbeing - Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park
Research consistently demonstrates the positive impact of nature exposure and physical exercise on mental health - reducing stress, anxiety, and depression while enhancing mood, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. By offering guided riverside walks, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages social interaction and promotes mental health recovery.
Overall, walking near rivers and water bodies combines the physical benefits of exercise with the therapeutic effects of nature, providing a powerful means to improve mental health. The unique combination of calming surroundings, sensory stimulation, and opportunities for social engagement make riverside walks a valuable intervention for promoting mental well-being.
