Senior Finance Officer
Responsible to: Managing Director
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Benefits: Level 2 Westfield Health, 7% employer contribution to pension
Job purpose and role
The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the maintenance of financial and administrative services working closely with the Managing Director to meet legislative requirements and to support the operations of River Stewardship Company (RSC). These duties include but are not limited to Xero Accounts functions, payroll and daily financial duties.
The role provides support to River Stewardship Company and Riverlution CiC our partner company delivery our social impact activities.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Senior Finance Officer will support and assist in ensuring the smooth running of Finance Department operations. The Senior Finance Officer will ensure that effective methods are put in place ensuring that all employees and company processes run to maximum efficiency.
Duties (this list is not exhaustive)
- Manage the day-to-day duties of the finance function
- Process daily post relevant to Finance and assist in the management of the Finance email account
- Regular posting of purchase and sales ledger entries to Xero Accounts including managing incoming queries
- To be responsible for the monthly payrolls
- Maintain the fixed asset registers
- Month and year end procedures
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts
- Work with Project Managers to review financial performance of jobs against budget
- Petty cash payments including reconciliation
- Supplier payments and management
- Establish, maintain and reconcile supplier and customer accounts
- Raising invoices for monthly support services to Riverlution and supporting Project Managers in raising works invoices and submitting applications for payment.
- Management of cashflow and allocating supplier payment dates
- Credit control and chasing debtors
- Raising purchase orders
- Process supplier invoices ensuring goods received prior to payment
- Coding of supplier invoices and obtaining the necessary approvals
- Respond and deal with telephone and email enquiries relevant to the Finance Department
- Maintain financial files and spreadsheet records
- Manage the filing, storage, archiving and security of documents meeting all Data Protection requirements and responsibilities
- Support the development, production and implementation of Finance process documents
- Monthly credit card reconciliation
- Ensure the safeguarding of all Company finances via the implementation and adherence of financial policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as required
- Work to deadlines when required

Knowledge
The Senior Finance Officer must be knowledgeable in the following areas:
- Proven experience of working in a Finance Office
- Proven expertise with computerised accounts systems, preferably Xero
- Efficient office administration and providing support to a Finance Manager
- Supervision in a similar or team leader role
- Companies House requirements
- Highly proficient computer skills including in-depth knowledge of Excel and major Microsoft programs
- AAT Level 3 (minimum), GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent
- Good editing, data collection, record keeping with extensive analysis skill set

Work site base
Based at the Sheffield main base but may on occasion be required to work at any RSC base where financial audits and or support may need to be provided.
