Activities include proactive and reactive tree management, invasive, non-native species management and litter and debris management, as well as a programme of volunteer days to provide numerous socio-economic outcomes.
After a period of strong winds, a number of trees had fallen into the River Aire in Kirkstall, Leeds, in some cases causing an obstruction across the full width of the river channel. Shortly after picking these issues up, we were on site removing the windblown trees from the watercourse. One of the tree trunks will be retained near to the river bank and carved into a ‘lookout throne’ as part of a corporate volunteer day.
We carried out a tree survey of a 15km reach of river to establish the condition of trees along the river bank, in order to inform the scope of a future management programme.
