Debris (‘Wracking’) Removal - Environment Agency

Wracking is the term used by the Environment Agency to describe the organic and inorganic debris left over from high water events.

After high water events in 2015 and 2018 deposited significant quantities of debris on the banks of the rivers Aire, Don and Calder, we were quickly able to mobilise teams to remove these accumulations, reducing the risk of flooding and environmental contamination, and facilitating access for grass cutting.
