Invasive Non-Native Species Management

We are currently finishing Phase 1 of one of the largest catchment-scale invasive non-native species management projects in the country. This work is being carried out on behalf of the Environment Agency and includes the treatment of Giant Hogweed, Floating Pennywort, and Japanese Knotweed

Otley Volunteer Days

River Stewardship Company have been delivering a programme of volunteer days and invasive weed management on the River Wharfe in Otley. This work is being delivered for Leeds City Council and the Environment agency through the principal contractors, Peter Duffy Ltd.

Invasive Non-Native Species Survey

River Stewardship Company currently employs 14 ecologists who together, are surveying 1200 km of river across the Nidd, Swale, Wharfe, Ouse, Hull and Ure. They are recording incidences of Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed, and Floating Pennywort as part of the Environment Agency's catchment-wide invasive weed management programme.
