Site Operative

Hours: Full time, 42.5 hours per week (though we would consider applicants wishing for part-time positions)

Salary: £18,000 – £19,500 per annum, pro-rata depending on qualifications and experience

Duration: Fixed term contract till 30th November 2020, with potential for contract extensions, or permanent employment, subject to funding

Annual Leave: 34 days, including bank holidays

Pension: 8% of gross income contribution by the company

Job role

The Site Operative will contribute to the successful delivery of a range of waterway and upland management contract days across Yorkshire (and occasionally in the East Midlands).

Contract days may include (but are not exclusive to) invasive species control, vegetation management, tree management, debris and waste management, moorland restoration work and the occasional delivery of volunteer days.  This role will have a particular focus on the delivery of the upland works up to mid-April 2020 and which point the work will move on to the delivery of our Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) treatment programme.

Person Specification

As a Site Operative you will have experience of working as an effective team member in a moorland environment. You will be able to work to a high standard in challenging conditions, in remote locations, and will demonstrate self-motivation, confidence and enthusiasm for your work. You will have a good understanding of assessing risk and working competently to high health and safety standards.

Closing date: 12 noon on Friday 31st January 2019.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified on the 31st January. Interview dates will be confirmed at this stage, but are likely to be in the week commencing 3rd February.

Person Specification

The Site Supervisor will have experience of delivering high quality work in challenging conditions and in remote locations, particularly in moorland environments. You will have a track record of supervising and motivating an effective team of paid employees and volunteers and will have  excellent interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of assessing risk and working competently to high health and safety standards and show an aptitude for coming up with solutions to practical problems. A full driving license and ability to access remote working locations are essential.
